Easter week 1962. The Funk Mafia visits Disneyland in Anaheim. This is what crowded looked like back then. I was 8, my brother had just turned 7, and the Matterhorn was just 3. My Grandpa Funk flew in from Ohio. I am wearing lederhosen in honor of Switzerland building a bigger Matterhorn near Zermatt. Later, Disney added the snow monster so you could tell the difference. Just behind the trees is the Monsanto House of the Future.
Happy Valentine's Day
in holiday
Children and props make for Happy Valentine’s Day photos. I made these photos about 34 years ago. They’re two of my favorites, even without the “artsy” effects.
I made this image in the early 1970s during a field trip with my John Muir High School photo class.
The chains that bind us
When newspapers used assessment tools in the olden days, I asked why my assessment changed over the years. The answer fits me: I adapted to the management skills of my bosses, who were either good (and made me better, allowing me to focus on my passions) or horrible (I felt compelled to fill in the blanks so that the others in my department could do their jobs). Put another way, I was either the enabled or the enabler.
